The director of the previous two films, Paul King, decided not to direct this installment
Paddington returns to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who is now residing at the Retired Bear Home. With the Brown family in tow, an exciting adventure begins when a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey. However, he pitched the idea for this third film and was involved as an executive producer.
Paddington in Peru is a nice enough if unremarkable film
Featured in Graham Norton Cast: Billy Crystal/Emily Mortimer/Hugh Bonneville/Pharrell Williams/Michael Kiwanuka (2024). It obviously doesn’t quite reach the heights of Paddington 2, but it’s probably on par with the first. With a different director at the helm, this film also takes on a different perspective as it lifts the action from London and its environs to the jungles of Peru.
It’s a fairly interesting story that flows well enough and maintains a decent pace
This is probably a wise choice as it helps the film feel fresh and different than the other two. It also gives room for a slightly different type of story, perhaps more adventurous and exciting. The humor is a bit mediocre, but it’s definitely aimed more at kids, so it reflects my age more than anything else.
It’s nice and gentle
I also think the emotional side is a bit lacking. I remember Paddington 2 making me cry, but this one seems a bit gentler. In fact, I think that word sums up this movie.
